چکیده

Background: Regular walking in different types of footwear may increase the mediolateral shear force, knee adduction moment, or vertical ground-reaction forces that could risk early development osteoarthritis (OA). Purpose: To compare kinematic and kinetic parameters affect OA 3 conditions. Study Design: Controlled laboratory study. Methods: A total 40 asymptomatic participants performed trials at self-selected speeds under barefoot (BF), minimalistic (MF), neutral (NF) Knee joint were described using discrete point values, continuous curves evaluated statistical parametric mapping. × 1 repeated-measures analysis variance was used to determine main effect for both data. differences between conditions, a post hoc paired t test used. Results: Discrete analyses showed significantly greater power NF compared with MF BF weight absorption phase ( P < .001 both). Statistical mapping indicated angle sagittal plane end propulsive = .043). moment .038) frontal planes .035) .034) NF. significant found anteroposterior (propulsion, ↑MF, NF, ↓BF [ .008]; absorption, ↑BF, MF, ↓NF .001]), .005]; ↑NF, .044]), BF, ↓MF .001]; .001]) forces. (absorption, .015]; propulsion, .039]). Conclusion: Walking without sufficient accommodation affected OA.

Knee osteoarthritis prevalence, risk factors, pathogenesis and features: Part I

Osteoarthritis (OA) a common disease of aged population and one of the leading causes of disability. Incidence of knee OA is rising by increasing average age of general population. Age, weight, trauma to joint due to repetiting movements in particular squatting and kneeling are common risk factors of knee OA. Several factors including cytokines, leptin, and mechanical forces are pathogenic fact...

Effects of footwear on medial compartment knee osteoarthritis.

This pilot study investigated whether lateral-wedge insoles inserted into shock-absorbing walking shoes altered joint pain, stiffness, and physical function in patients with symptomatic medial compartment knee osteoarthritis (OA). Twenty-eight subjects wore full-length lateral-wedge insoles with an incline of 4 degrees in their walking shoes for 4 weeks. Pain, stiffness, and functional status w...
